Flooding in Kenya – Situation at the Mission Center

As of 10th May, 2018, Floods have displaced over 211,000 people across Kenya and reportedly killed 72 people.

We have been encountering challenges at St Irene Orthodox Mission Center & Orphanage due to flooding in the playgrounds; Kids are unable to play in the field and are at the risk of contracting water borne diseases due to unprotected feet whether it be on the playground, on the sports field or even walking in the school fields. In addition kids are forced to take their meals from the classrooms because the the fields are flooded.

We believe that there is no greater experience, than providing our donors with the opportunity to experience the impact that their donations have made possible. That is why we invite and strongly encourage our donors to take part in the life-changing experience of gifting a brand new pair of gumboots to a young underprivileged child.

One pair of gumboots will cost us 5 Dollars – Donate Today –

WHY Buy Gumboots for the Needy?

The gumboots are symbolic of pride and give confidence to young learners knowing that they can walk to school in comfort, as opposed to barefoot during this rainy seasons. Gumboots are also a vital protection barrier between our children’s tiny soles and Africa’s rough and unforgiving terrain.
